[Public, voice]
In the interests of keeping everyone up to date, I want to explain why some members of our crew were able to return to the ship despite being observed by the occupying force.
[Her spoken language switches to Gallifreyan. She doesn't seem to have noticed.]
The Barge engine has been upgraded with a - normality projector, so to speak, hybridising numerous technologies used by assorted members of our crew. When functional, it will produce a field that will make us seem ordinary and hopefully harmless to those native to the ports we visit.
[Then Japanese:]
In this specific instance it required a little fine-tuning since there were technically two 'native' groups. However, it seems to have worked successfully, and the new addition is secure enough that it should also function in future ports. Ideally, what happened here should never happen again. Which the Admiral should have seen to a long time ago, but never mind.
[Khelish:]
It's been brought to my attention that the field is not effective on those who have fallen overboard. I....don't know if this is something we can or should change.
Anyway. I won't embarrass anyone by naming names, I expect people will want to take credit for themselves or not at all - and - I don't. All I did was bug testing, really. [Understating the case a smidge, but this really was a team effort, she didn't do more than her fair share.] I am grateful to everyone who contributed, however little they might think they did.
[Private to Erik]
[And English again. Hooray!]
Are you in the Infirmary?
[Ten minutes later, text:]
I apologise. Technical glitch.
[And because this is text, you don't get to see how unnerved she is - SHE IS 99% HUMAN SHE SHOULD NOT BE HAVING TECHNICAL GLITCHES. Anyway, the public element of the above post is repeated, in text, in English.]
[OOC: What's happening here? Well, the USB port to her brain doesn't have a 'read only' setting, and it turns out that plugging yourself into the Barge control systems while installing an incredibly powerful experimental programme isn't the best idea. You're the worst cyborg ever, Tosh.
Don't worry, she's not acquiring multilingual superpowers or anythingbeyond the ones she had in canon; this is just a brief annoyance she can't control and will clear up in a day or two.]

Date: 2012-08-15 08:39 pm (UTC)I'd keep a very close eye on that. ['Cause the infirmary is kind of busy right now.] You got anybody around to help you if worse happens?

Date: 2012-08-15 09:36 pm (UTC)I know people I can go to. Thank you, Kay.
[Not specifying who, because she doesn't like to admit even to herself that if the chips are down and she really cannot form words she'll have to contact one of the telepaths. Because boo telepathy.]
Did you manage to make it out alright?

Date: 2012-08-15 02:13 pm (UTC)I'll be making myself available to the Infirmary for as long as the staff need extra help. Is there anything you need from your cabin or elsewhere?
[Your dumb helmet, for instance.]
