Personally I'm not convinced that asking everyone to kill themselves to return to the Barge is the best route forward here, and I doubt the Admiral has put himself out to make sure we have other options.

Admiral Daro'Xen vas Moreh. Before boarding ship, my expertise was primarily aimed at robotics, synthetic intelligence and adaptations of advanced technologies. I would be more than glad to volunteer my services, but would vastly prefer it doing so meant I not having to step foot outside, if at all possible.

Changing species is not something I find to be a comforting experience in the slightest.

If we need to scavenge extra equipment we can send out someone else, though I'm hoping this is a software issue - something we can programme into existing systems. Do you have any experience with shielding or camouflage?

Shielding, yes. What nature of camouflage were you thinking? Holographic? Tactical cloaking? Assuming we have sufficient power, we should be able to craft enough emitters... Depending upon resources, of course. If all you wish to defend against is small arms fire, I can even combine both.

Not that sort of camouflage. There's a kind of ship in my world capable of making itself seem unremarkable to the inhabitants of whatever world it lands on. If we can design a more widespread version of that field, one that will influence the entire crew, then we won't have to worry about our cremated being held because of their being 'kindness'.

I think your work in intelligence may come in useful, with regard to perception of surrounding objects and lifeforms. How fast can you work?

How fast I work depends on the task required of me. I aim to be efficient. If it's a simple matter of programmable interfacing, I would say extremely.

If this is what you meant by 'tactical cloaking' I apologise for the misunderstanding, but I'm aiming a little higher than holographic emitters. They would have to be individually programmed for each port and would need a thorough understanding of the native culture and aesthetic that we likely wouldn't possess and can't trust the Admiral to provide us with. I'm talking about a widespread telepathic influence on the ports where we land.

This is... Not something I have experience in, but if you've the relevant data on file, I'd be happy to process it. If I understand you correctly, it seems like this is more of a... Long-term project, anyway.
